Charming places of nature » Rumšiškės Open-Air museum

Rumšiškės is a village in central Lithuania, 13 km from Kaunas, on the right bank of the River Nemunas. The fortress mounds and the barrow graves in the surrounding countryside indicate that the locality has been inhabited since ancient times. The core of Rumšiškės Open-air museum is the houses and workplaces transferred from different regions of Lithuania: Aukštaitija, Suvalkija, Žemaitija and Lithuania Minor. They represent the most characteristic and stylistic features of buildings, furniture, household articles, iconographic materials and other artefacts which illustrate the way of life, work, and the traditions of the peasants and towns people of these regions.
